Deputy María Teresa Ealy expressed her conviction that the threats she received are directly related to her work denouncing acts of corruption, impunity, and structural violence. She emphasized that these are precisely the issues she has raised her voice about. Ealy lamented that female legislators from Morena used the feminist struggle to protect a man accused of abuse.
The events occurred on Monday, May 5, when the deputy reported on social media receiving direct threats against her life after revealing acts of corruption, impunity, and structural violence against women. The intimidating message referred to her home, vehicle, and warned of constant surveillance of her and her family.
In an interview, Ealy linked the threats against her to the case of deputy Cuauhtémoc Blanco, accused of attempted rape against his half-sister. The official requested protection from federal and state authorities and held the competent institutions responsible for any situation that could affect her, her family, or her work team.
The deputy demanded that the Attorney General's Office, the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, and the National Commission of Human Rights act promptly, provide protection measures, and conduct a thorough investigation to identify those responsible. The Morena party showed its solidarity with the legislator and asked the competent authorities to intervene in the matter.
After presenting documents to the Attorney General's Office of Morelos to follow up on the complaint against Cuauhtémoc Blanco, María Teresa Ealy received a message on her WhatsApp threatening her with consequences if she continued to speak out. The criminal group that intimidated her demanded that she remain silent without explanation.
Amidst these threats, the deputy remained firm in her commitment to fight against corruption, impunity, and structural violence, reiterating that she will not yield to intimidation and will continue to raise her voice for truth, justice, and human rights.
